FYI is a product-led SaaS company built by accountants, for accountants. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you’ll lead an Engineering squad and take a hands-on role in driving its day-to-day delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading delivery of software products in a SaaS or complex technology environment.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing software engineering teams.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to stay close to the work and drive actions to completion.
• Strong delivery management capabilities including planning, prioritisation, risk management and dependency management.
• Sufficient technical understanding to engage with engineers and support sound decision-making.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery approaches and modern software development practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Own end-to-end delivery across features and platform improvements from planning through release.

• Drive Agile delivery practices with planning, refinement and sprint ceremonies, managing risks and performance.
• Identify blockers, establish concrete actions and owners, and follow through to resolution.
• Use data and insights to identify constraints and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach team members and foster an environment that supports performance and growth.

The position

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you’ll lead an Engineering squad and take a hands-on role in driving its day-to-day delivery. You’ll stay close to the work, create clarity around priorities and ownership, investigate blockers, coordinate follow-up actions and ensure commitments progress through to completion.

Working closely with Product, Engineering, Quality and Client Success, you’llhelp the squad deliver predictably, efficiently and to a high standard while creating an environment in which people can perform at their best. A software development background may be valuable, but it is not essential; success in this role depends on your ability to understand technical work, ask effective questions and drive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering squad, establishing clear expectations, ownership and accountability.
• Take a hands-on role in day-to-day delivery by staying close to progress, decisions, risks and dependencies.
• Own end-to-end delivery across features, enhancements and platform improvements, ensuring work progresses from planning through to release.
• Champion quality and release readiness, ensuring solutions are thoroughly tested, validated and delivered to a consistently high standard.
• Drive Agile delivery practices, facilitating planning, refinement and sprint ceremonies while proactively managing risks and delivery performance.
• Proactively identify and investigate blockers, establish clear actions and owners, and follow through until they are resolved.
• Use delivery data and team insights to identify constraints and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach team members, provide regular feedback and create an environment that supports strong performance and professional growth.

About you

• Proven experience leading the delivery of software products in a SaaS or similarly complex technology environment.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing software engineering teams.
• A hands-on leadership style- you stay close to the work, investigate constraints and follow actions through to completion.
• Strong delivery management capabilities, including planning, prioritisation, risk management and dependency management.
• Sufficient technical understanding to engage effectively with engineers, ask informed questions and support sound decision-making.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery approaches, the software development lifecycle and modern software development practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to establish ownership and build alignment across teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes.
