A maritime heritage organization seeks engineers to operate and maintain historic vessels on cruises. Candidates must possess a steam ticket and be willing to complete an in-house course. Responsibilities include ensuring safe operation and compliance with regulations during full-day outings, primarily on weekends. Ideal for those passionate about maritime heritage.
We seek engineers to work aboard our two steamers currently in-survey: the 1902 VIP steam launch Lady Hopetoun and the 1902 steam tug Waratah. Both vessels are used frequently on paying passenger-carrying cruises and require engineers with a steam ticket. We provide an in-house TAFE‑recognised steam engineer’s course to obtain a ticket.
Engineers are essential members of the crew, responsible for operating and maintaining the vessels during full‑day cruises, mostly on weekends with occasional weekday charters. Duties include ensuring safe operation of the triple expansion/compound engines, monitoring boilers, and compliance with marine regulations.
