Job summary

South32 is seeking a Structural Engineer to ensure stability, compliance and fit-for-purpose performance across new projects and upgrades. This permanent role offers an 8/6, day shift roster with FIFO options from Townsville or Brisbane.

You will develop designs, conduct site inspections and prepare detailed drawings, specifications and reports to support project delivery and asset integrity.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
• Experience in structural engineering within an operating asset.
• Ability to produce detailed drawings and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs and calculations for steel, concrete, timber and other systems.
• Conduct site inspections to verify construction quality.
• Assess existing structures and recommend repair, strengthening or replacement.

ABOUT CANNINGTON

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp- the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent opportunity offering a an 8/6, day shift only roster, FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.

As the Engineer Structural you will be responsible for ensuring structures are stable, compliant and fit for purpose across new projects, upgrades and remedial works.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Develop designs and calculations for steel, concrete, timber and other systems.
• Conduct site inspections to verify construction quality and identify issues.
• Assess existing structures and recommend repair, strengthening or replacement.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, project records and technical reports.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Structural engineering experience within an operating asset.
• Relevant field, industry or organisational experience.
• Knowledge of current occupational health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Ability to produce detailed drawings, deliver presentations and facilitate workshops.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
