Job summary

Pacific Energy is looking for an Engineer - Control Systems to join our nationwide team. The role delivers technical and project support across SCADA and control system design, working with multidisciplinary teams to implement, test, optimise, and document systems.

You will contribute to design reviews, safety compliance, and commissioning activities while mentoring junior engineers and expanding expertise in generator control platforms like ComAp and LNG SCADA.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, design processes and project delivery.
  • Proven experience in control systems, instrumentation, OT networking, and SCADA/HMI development.
  • Skilled in technical writing, documentation, and specification development.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid knowledge of statutory standards, QA and OSHE requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review technical documentation, specifications, and functional design materials.
  • Support SCADA and control system design, development, optimisation, and change management.
  • Deliver engineering work across the full project lifecycle, including control logic, equipment specification, schematics, and software testing.
  • Collaborate with commissioning teams on ITRs, ITPs, FAT/SAT and commissioning activities.
  • Provide site-based engineering and operational support when required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture aligned with company values.
  • Build expertise in generator control platforms (e.g., ComAp) and support LNG SCADA system development and maintenance.

An exciting opportunity is available for an Engineer - Control Systems.The role can be based at any Pacific Energy location nationwide - Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, or Darwin.

In this role you will deliver technical and project support across SCADA and control system design, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

You will contribute to system implementation, testing, optimisation, compliance, component selection and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review technical documentation, specifications, and functional design materials.
  • Support SCADA and control system design, development, optimisation, and change management.
  • Deliver engineering work across the full project lifecycle, including control logic, equipment specification, schematics, and software testing.
  • Conduct design reviews and produce technical mark-ups for drawings and reports.
  • Collaborate with commissioning teams on ITRs, ITPs, FAT/SAT and commissioning activities.
  • Provide site-based engineering and operational support when required.
  • Contribute to technology, process, and continuous improvement initiatives - identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, Mines Regulations, statutory requirements, and HSEQ/Safety in Design principles.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture aligned with company values.
  • Support development of power station control philosophies and alignment with PPA requirements.
  • Build expertise in generator control platforms (e.g., ComAp) and support LNG SCADA system development and maintenance.
