Job summary

JD Ross Energy seeks an Energy Market Analyst in Canberra to join a high-performing Energy Management team focused on real-time market operations. You will monitor and optimise trading strategies across NEM and WEM, analyse market conditions and develop quantitative trading solutions.

The role requires a degree in engineering, mathematics or sciences, plus experience in energy market analysis and Python/SQL. Collaboration with operations, quantitative and tech teams is essential.

An opportunity for an Energy Market Analyst to join a high-performing Energy Management team, focused on real-time market operations.

The Role:

• Monitor and optimise trading strategies across the NEM and WEM
• Analyse market conditions, constraints and competitor behaviour
• Develop and test new trading and optimisation strategies
• Work with quantitative and software teams to improve trading algorithms
• Analyse large datasets using Python, SQL and visualisation tools
• Support the development of trading, forecasting and risk-management systems

About You:

• Background in energy trading analysis, market analysis or quantitative modelling
• Strong understanding of the NEM and AEMO dispatch
• Python and/or SQL experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Degree in engineering, mathematics, science or similar
• Work across both NEM and WEM markets
• Strong pathway into quantitative and algorithm development
• Work alongside experienced operations, quantitative and technology professionals
