Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice across the Far West region seeks an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker to support Dareton, Broken Hill and Wilcannia. Employment is ongoing, with salary 92,632–120,478 AUD per year plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

The role partners with families and communities to safeguard children’s safety, wellbeing and cultural connection, including home visits, safety planning and court involvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree preferred; two years’ experience with vulnerable children if no qualification.
• Ability to build positive relations with the Aboriginal community; strong communication.
• Valid driver’s licence and Working with Children clearance (blue card).
• Documented verification of Aboriginality as required for identified role.

Responsibilities

• Work sensitively with parents, families, children or young people.
• Develop safety plans and complete risk assessments.
• Manage cases including high-need and high-risk clients and families.
• Attend court proceedings and prepare court documents.
• Engage in supervision and Aboriginal cultural supervision.
