Job summary

genU is seeking an Employment Pathways Mentor to support people with disability in Geelong and Werribee. You will help participants build skills, confidence and pathways to employment, delivering career planning, job readiness and capacity-building activities.

You will mentor and coach participants through volunteering, work experience and paid work, conducting assessments and maintaining relationships with employers for sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

  • First aid and CPR certificate are required.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate are needed and genU will assist.

Responsibilities

  • Support people with disability to identify and achieve employment goals.
  • Develop, review and update individualised employment plans with participants and families.
  • Deliver capacity-building activities: career planning, job readiness, confidence building, skills development and employment preparation.
  • Provide mentoring and on-the-job coaching for volunteering, work experience and paid employment.
  • Conduct participant and workplace assessments, provide post-placement support, and maintain employer relationships.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with policies and requirements.

genU are looking for an Employment Pathways Mentor to work in our Geelong - Werribee locations. As an Employment Pathways Mentor, you will support people with disability to build the skills, confidence and experience needed to achieve their employment goals. Working with participants individually and in group settings, you will assess employment aspirations and support needs, develop tailored employment pathways, and deliver capacity-building activities that prepare participants for meaningful work opportunities.

You will provide mentoring and practical support throughout the employment journey, from career planning and job readiness through to securing and maintaining employment, empowering participants to achieve greater independence and workplace success.

What you’ll do

As an Employment Pathways Mentor in our Employment Pathways team, you’ll:

  • Support people with disability to identify and achieve their employment goals using a person-centred employment pathways approach.
  • Develop, review and update individualised employment plans in collaboration with participants, families and key support networks.
  • Deliver tailored capacity-building activities, including career planning, job readiness, confidence building, skills development and employment preparation.
  • Provide mentoring and on-the-job coaching to support participants in volunteering, work experience and paid employment opportunities.
  • Conduct participant and workplace assessments, provide post-placement support, and foster positive relationships with employers to achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and administrative records while ensuring compliance with organisational policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
What you’ll bring
  • Minimum Certificate IV in disability, community services,employment services or a related field
  • Previous experience working in disability or a similar field
  • Previous experience working within the employment sector
  • Current first aid + CPR certificate
  • Ability to transport participants as required, current driver’slicense, car & fully comprehensive insurance.

(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)

  • Experience working in disability, community services or employment services.
  • Knowledge of the NDIS and broader disability support sector.
