Job summary

NSW Health Pathology seeks an HR and Industrial Relations leader to provide expert advice, drive workforce strategy, and deliver fair employee relations outcomes. In this temporary Full-Time role until 30 June 2028, you will partner with senior leaders to manage complex employee relations matters, lead negotiations, and support organisational success.

You will manage workplace relations and policy advice across NSW Health Pathology, advising HR Managers, Senior Managers, and the Executive

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in law, human resources, industrial relations or equivalent.
• Strong negotiation and dispute resolution experience.
• Ability to interpret NSW Health awards, agreements and policies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience advising senior leaders on complex employee relations matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage workplace relations and industrial relations strategy and policy support statewide.
• Provide advice to HR Managers, Senior Managers and the Executive on employee relations.
• Lead negotiations and dispute resolution with unions and external parties.
• Support workforce initiatives and ensure compliance with industrial instruments and legislation.
• Coach managers in workplace performance, conduct and investigations.

Remuneration: $153,559.00 - $182,954.00 per annum + Superannuation

About The Opportunity: Join NSW Health Pathology as a trusted HR and Industrial Relations leader, providing expert advice, driving workforce strategy, and delivering fair and sustainable employee relations outcomes. In ths temporary Full-Time opportunity, you’ll partner with senior leaders to manage complex employee and industrial relations matters, lead negotiations and dispute resolution, and drive workforce initiatives that foster positive workplace outcomes and organisational success.

What You'll Be Doing

Responsible for managing workplace relations, employee relations and industrial relations strategy and Policy advice and support for NSWHP on a State-wide basis. This includes providing advice and support to HR Managers, Senior Managers, the Workforce Group, the Director Professional Standards and the Executive Director of People and Culture, as required.

• Tertiary qualifications in law, human resources, industrial relations or equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to instruct legal representatives and Counsel in complex matters, and the ability to appear in Courts and Tribunals, in negotiations, major initiatives and in policy matters.
• Demonstrated commitment to resolving disputes by negotiation wherever possible with a non-adversarial approach to external stakeholders.
• Sound research and analytical skills.
• Experience in applying and interpreting NSW Health industrial awards, agreements, policies and related instruments.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to quickly build strong relationships with senior managers and key stakeholders.
• Ability to coach and mentor senior stakeholders in relation to their responsibilities in the workplace.
• Partner with managers to provide specialist workplace relations and employee relations consultancy services to support the effective management of performance, conduct, grievances, workplace investigations, organisational change, and other employee matters, while ensuring compliance with industrial instruments, legislation and NSW Health policies.
