Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking an Emergency Relief Case Worker in Kings Cross, delivering practical support to people facing hardship. Four days per week on-site, you will assess needs, provide brief case-work, and connect clients with food, vouchers, and services through the Emergency Relief and Food Pantry program.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Community Services or higher is required.
• Two+ years experience in a community services setting preferred.
• Clear communication and ability to engage diverse people.
• Non-judgemental, client-centred approach.
• Experience managing challenging behaviours and de-escalation.
• Ability to lead or support volunteers in a team.
• Strong admin and tech skills including data entry and record keeping.
• First Aid & CPR certificate and compulsory national police history check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct face to face and phone-based assessments to determine eligibility for Emergency Relief.
• Provide brief case work, practical assistance, and referrals to relevant services.
• Coordinate Food Pantry operations including food ordering, deliveries, stock control and pantry distribution.
• Sort, stock and replenish pantry supplies, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including Foodbank, OzHarvest and community organisations.
• Maintain client records and enter data into MA Connect and other systems.
• Support people in hardship with professionalism, empathy and respect.
