Job description
  • Full-time
Company Description

Are you an experienced Emergency Veterinarian looking for a role where you can truly thrive — both professionally and personally?

At ARH Gosford, we’re proud to offer more than just a job. We offer a career home where you’ll be supported, valued, and surrounded by people who genuinely care.

Job Description

About the role

We’re looking for an Emergency Veterinarian to join our team on a permanent full-time, part-time, casual, or locum basis — ideally working 20–36 hours per week with shifts ranging from 3 to 12 hours.

This is true emergency work — no vaccinations or dentals, just the variety and challenge of acute care medicine and surgery.

  • Shared rotating roster of nights, weekends, and some public holidays.
  • Some sole charge shifts required, with support always available.
  • Remuneration: $140,000–$185,000 + super + CE (pro rata for PT roles); negotiation available for exceptional candidates

What we offer

We believe in ongoing development and investing in our people. You’ll have access to:

  • A strong internal Continuing Education program and Annual CE allowance.
  • The ARH “Growth Scholarship”, funding further study on top of your regular CE.
  • Consultation coaching provided by On Switch and access to the Annual Greencross Veterinary Symposium.
  • Career development pathways — let us know your interests, and we’ll help you pursue them through our Specialist network.
  • Staff discounts, including Petbarn and Greencross clinics.
  • Paid Parental Leave, flexible working arrangements, and back-to-work programs.
  • Relocation packages and accommodation options between shifts for non-local vets.
  • We’re proud to be actively involved in community and charity initiatives, as well as supporting local causes.
  • Regular social events and a workplace culture that values friendship as much as professionalism.
Qualifications

Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of GP experience or 1 year of ECC experience, a positive attitude, and a strong desire to learn and deliver exceptional patient care.

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy problem-solving, and communicate clearly and compassionately with both clients and colleagues.

We’re especially interested in vets who value collaboration, empathy, and continual learning. Surgical skills or interests are welcome but not essential — we’re here to support you at whatever level you’re comfortable with.

Flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork are key in emergency medicine — and if you bring those qualities, you’ll fit right in.

Why you’ll love working with us

  • Location, location, location!

The Central Coast is the perfect blend of career opportunity and lifestyle. Just an hour north of Sydney, it’s surrounded by stunning beaches, bushland, and waterways — ideal for surfing, boating, hiking, or simply unwinding. There’s a vibrant café and restaurant culture, weekend markets, and a strong sense of community. And if you need an extra reason to stop by the clinic? The coffee roastery next door serves the best bacon and egg rolls around.

  • We genuinely care about our people.

At ARH Gosford, our staff come first. We’re a workplace that listens, values flexibility, and celebrates longevity — most of our team have been with us for over five years, some for more than ten. We achieve this through open communication, adaptability, and a shared commitment to looking out for each other. You’ll find a supportive environment where you can enjoy your work, maintain a healthy work‑life balance, and continue growing in areas that inspire you.

  • We’re built on support and collaboration.

As part of Australia’s largest network of Specialists and Emergency Veterinarians, you’ll never feel isolated. Our clinic is the Central Coast’s longest-established emergency care facility, fully equipped with everything you need to provide gold‑standard care — including endoscopy, ventilators, ultrasonography, radiology, and a full surgical suite.

You’ll have ongoing support from our on‑site Criticalist, highly experienced Emergency Clinicians, and a network of Specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Radiology/Imaging, and Dermatology. We also have a sister clinic in Sydney (just an hour away) offering advanced imaging capabilities, and an ambulance transfer service if needed. Whether it’s 2pm or 2am, you’ll always have backup and guidance when you need it

Because we’re more than just a clinic — we’re a close‑knit team of professionals who love what we do and where we do it. You’ll enjoy genuine clinical freedom, access to an incredible network, and a work environment that values people as much as patients.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact, enjoy a beautiful lifestyle, and work alongside a team that truly supports you, we’d love to hear from you.
