Job summary

The Animal Referral Hospital Essendon Fields is seeking a Veterinarian to join its 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care team. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment including Internal Medicine and Surgery, collaborating with specialists, registrars and a strong nursing team.

The role offers permanent part-time and casual opportunities with a diverse caseload across Victoria, with a focus on learning and clinical excellence in emergency medicine.

Qualifications

• Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Veterinarian in Victoria.
• Experience in Emergency, Critical Care (ECC) or at least two years of clinical experience with interest in emergency skills.
• Calm, adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communicator with colleagues, clients and referring veterinarians.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency and critical care to pets across a varied roster.
• Collaborate with specialists, veterinarians, nurses and support staff.
• Participate in a combination of consulting and hospital shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Engage in learning and shadow shifts to support transition into Emergency & Critical Care.

At Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Essendon Fields, you'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering outstanding emergency and specialist care to pets across Victoria. Our purpose-built hospital brings together Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine and Surgery, allowing you to manage diverse and rewarding cases while working alongside 7 Specialists (including an ECC Specialist), 2 Registrars, 12 Membership-qualified Emergency Veterinarians and an exceptional nursing team.

Our 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care service means no two shifts are the same. Whether you're an experienced ECC clinician or looking to build your confidence in emergency medicine, you'll be supported by a team committed to learning, collaboration and clinical excellence.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

• Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Veterinarian in Victoria
• Passionate about emergency medicine and providing outstanding patient care
• Experienced in ECC or has at least two years of clinical experience with an interest in developing emergency skills
• A positive team player who enjoys collaborating with others
• Calm, adaptable and confident working in a fast-paced environment
• An excellent communicator who builds strong relationships with colleagues, clients and referring veterinarians
