Job summary

Wests Tigers are seeking an experienced Assistant Coach – Defence to join our NRL Football Department. Reporting to the Head Coach, this role designs and implements defensive systems, trains players and contributes to game-day operations and video analysis to drive elite performance.

You will lead high-quality sessions, plan season defence strategies and work closely with coaching, high performance and wellbeing staff to achieve football objectives while representing the club professionally.

Qualifications

• NRL High Performance Coach accreditation is essential.
• Significant elite rugby league experience as player or coach.
• Extensive coaching within NRL and high-performance environments.

Responsibilities

• Design defensive systems, structures and game strategies.
• Plan and deliver high-quality defensive training sessions.
• Contribute to preseason and in-season planning to optimise performance.
• Monitor player development and provide ongoing coaching feedback.
• Support game day operations from the coaches' box with live analysis.
• Conduct opposition and post-match video analysis.
• Contribute to player selection discussions and end-of-season reviews.
• Collaborate with coaching, high performance and wellbeing staff.
• Represent the club professionally with media, sponsors, fans and stakeholders.
