Job summary

Sunwater is seeking an Electrician to maintain and repair electrical assets across Emerald and the Central Queensland region, including low and high voltage equipment. The role is hands-on, field-based and on-site, with exposure to diverse assets from key schemes to remote locations.

A 1 in 2 on-call roster is required. You’ll travel across the region, diagnose faults, perform preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance, support non-routine electrical works and contractor management, and

Qualifications

  • QLD Electrical Work Licence is required.
  • Experience with instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA, solar and communications systems.
  • HV switching capability (or willingness to obtain).
  • Confined space, working at heights and EWP competencies (or willingness to obtain).

In this hands‑on role, you’ll be out in the field and on site, keeping systems running smoothly, solving problems as they arise and supporting critical water operations. You’ll work across a diverse asset base—from key schemes to more remote locations—playing a vital role in keeping water flowing where it’s needed most.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintaining and repairing electrical assets across the network, including low and high voltage equipment.
  • Supporting water distribution operations and helping ensure reliable service delivery.
  • Diagnosing faults, troubleshooting issues and restoring systems quickly.
  • Delivering preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance.
  • Supporting non‑routine electrical works and contractor management.
  • Monitoring asset condition and performance to identify potential issues early.

You’ll spend time travelling across the region, giving you variety in your work and exposure to a wide range of assets and locations. The role includes a 1 in 2 on‑call roster, so flexibility is important.

What you bring:

  • QLD Electrical Work Licence.
