Job summary

KPI Services on the Gold Coast is seeking experienced Electrical Spotters (Safety Observers) for casual placements on civil, infrastructure and utility projects across Queensland. Responsibilities include monitoring exclusion zones, directing operators, stopping work if required, and attending pre-start meetings and toolbox talks.

Ideal candidates have spotter training, a White Card, ability to read site plans, reliable transport, a current driver licence, and are available to travel across

Responsibilities

• Act as safety observer for plant and work near overhead powerlines and underground services.
• Monitor exclusion zones and approach distances for heavy machinery.
• Direct operators and stop work when a breach of exclusion zones is likely.
• Attend pre-start meetings and toolbox talks and brief operators on active services.
• Report hazards, incidents and near misses to site supervisor and KPI.

Job description

We are seeking experienced Electrical Spotters (Safety Observers) for casual placements on civil, infrastructure and utility projects across Queensland.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as the designated safety observer for plant and work carried out near overhead powerlines and underground electrical services.
• Monitor exclusion zones and approach distances for excavators, cranes, tip trucks, concrete pumps and EWPs.
• Direct operators and stop work immediately where a breach of an exclusion zone is likely.
• Attend pre-start meetings and toolbox talks and brief operators on the services in play.
• Report hazards, incidents and near misses to the site supervisor and to KPI.

What we're looking for:

• Electrical safety observer / spotter training for work near overhead and underground electrical services.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Prior spotting or safety observer experience on civil, infrastructure or utilities projects.
• Ability to read site plans and BYDA plans and interpret exclusion zones.
• Fit for physically demanding outdoor work, long periods on your feet, all weather conditions.
• Reliable transport, current driver licence.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Available for casual work and willing to travel across Queensland, including regional and remote projects.
