Job summary

Nyrstar Hobart is seeking an experienced Electrical Reliability and Compliance Engineer to join our Asset Management Team on-site in Hobart. The role focuses on delivering safe, compliant, high-quality electrical outcomes across maintenance, design, construction and commissioning activities in a heavy industrial environment.

You will provide electrical engineering expertise to support plant operations, contribute to capital projects, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in project engineering, preferably heavy industry.
• Experience in electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control system design.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering support for plant operations and maintenance.

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Reliability and Compliance Engineer to join our Asset Management Team. About the Role:

As an Electrical Reliability and Compliance Engineer, you will play a key role within our Asset Management Team, focusing on providing electrical engineering expertise to support operational needs, as well as contributing to assigned capital projects. Your primary objective will be to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes across maintenance, design, construction, and commissioning activities. You'll offer strong leadership and foster strong relationships to identify value-adding and business-critical opportunities.

Key Duties and accountabilities:

• Provide electrical engineering expertise to support plant operations and maintenance needs.
• Contribute to assigned capital projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes.
• Oversee technical aspects of design, construction, and commissioning activities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement value-adding initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards in all engineering activities.
• Offer leadership and guidance to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits specifically checking compliance of established standards and procedures
• Offer technical support for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Monitor and ensure that all electrical equipment and systems are installed and maintained in accordance with all statutory requirements and Nyrstar’s Engineering Standards

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in project engineering preferably within heavy industry.
• Demonstrated experience in the design of electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control systems.
• Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills.
• Ability to achieve results in a demanding and challenging environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience with project management tools and systems.
• Experience in SAP would be highly regarded.
