Job summary

Thales in Australia is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to deliver electrical maintenance, repair, and installation across the Lithgow facility. The role focuses on preventative and breakdown maintenance, with installation and commissioning of electrical systems.

You will respond to maintenance requests, fault-find with structured methods, work with the CMMS MEX, and ensure safety before handover.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent.
• NSW Qualified Supervisor Certificate or Electrical Contractor Licence.
• Ability to identify, assess and manage risk with minimal supervision.
• AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules knowledge.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with ability to read schematics.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Respond to electrical maintenance requests and coordinate with the Industrial Maintenance Lead – Electrical.
• Diagnose faults and apply structured problem-solving to implement solutions.
• Perform breakdown and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
• Source, repair, or manufacture replacement components as required.
• Prepare scope of work for repairs and installation activities for contractor engagement.
• Manage and coordinate contractors as needed.
• Ensure safety and functionality before recommissioning or hand-over.
• Interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Maintain records in CMMS MEX.
• Communicate task progress to internal customers/suppliers.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team and deliver electrical maintenance, repair, and installation services across the Lithgow facility. The position primarily involves Preventative Maintenance (PM) and breakdown maintenance, along with the installation and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to electrical maintenance requirements, working closely with the Industrial Maintenance Lead – Electrical to ensure priorities are understood and delivered effectively.
• Diagnose faults and apply structured problem‑solving techniques to determine and implement appropriate solutions within the scope of skills and experience.
• Perform breakdown and preventative maintenance (PM) on plant and equipment.
• Identify, source, manufacture, or repair replacement components as required.
• Assist in preparing ‘scope of work’ for electrical repairs, maintenance, and installation activities to support contractor engagement.
• Assist in the management, coordination, and supervision of contractors where required.
• Ensure safety and functionality of equipment before recommissioning or hand‑over.
• Interpret and work from electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and work performed using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) MEX.
• Communicate progress of tasks to internal customers/suppliers directly and via the Industrial Maintenance Lead – Electrical or Industrial Maintenance Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrical Trade Certificate) or equivalent.
• Current NSW Qualified Supervisor Certificate or Electrical Contractor Licence.
• Strong ability to identify, assess, and manage risk with minimal supervision.
• Sound working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules).
• Strong industrial fault‑finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications

• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) above 11m.
• Experience working at heights.
• EWP Operator Licence – Yellow card.
• Experience in confined space work.
