Job summary

Searo, a division within the Symal Group, is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to lead the pricing and tender development for utility-scale renewables, including Wind and BESS projects. You will own electrical take-offs and cost development, working closely with engineering, commercial and delivery teams to convert opportunities into winning bids.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will source subcontractor and vendor pricing, build auditable cost plans, and assemble compliant

Job description

Experience taking end to end ownership of electrical estimating for a major renewable projects including Wind and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, developing your career in a diverse and ever evolving company, and playing a critical role in winning and shaping the delivery of projects of major significance.

The role

Searo is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to lead the pricing and tender development of utility-scale renewables opportunities.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will take ownership of electrical take-offs, subcontractor and vendor pricing, and cost development, working closely with engineering, commercial and delivery teams to convert opportunities into winning bids.

Your everyday

• Electrical Take-Offs: Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from tender drawings and specifications for MV/HV reticulation, switchrooms, substations and BESS enclosures.
• Subcontractor & Vendor Pricing: Source and assess competitive pricing from subcontractors, OEMs and suppliers, ensuring scope, program and commercial terms are clearly captured.
• Cost Plan Development: Build robust, auditable cost plans and pricing schedules that reflect the true cost and risk profile of the electrical BESS scope.
• Tender Development & Submission: Assemble compliant, well-presented tender and RFT responses, working with bid, commercial and engineering teams to meet submission deadlines.
• Risk & Value Identification: Identify commercial and technical risks, exclusions and clarifications, and highlight value engineering opportunities during the pricing process.
• Benchmarking & Handover: Maintain historical pricing and productivity benchmarks, and support a clean handover of the estimate to the delivery team upon award.

Who are you?

You will bring strong technical and commercial acumen, with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tenders. Ideally you will have;

• A proven track record in electrical estimating on Wind projects
• A proven track records in electrical estimating on BESS projects
• Demonstrated experience preparing take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions for MV/HV electrical scope
• Experience and strong understanding of EBoP and BoP responsibilities and the nuances and differences between the two
• Electrical engineering or trade background
• Experience estimating D&C delivered projects in Australia
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing tender deadlines
• Contractor-side experience will be highly regarded, although consultant or OEM-side estimating experience will also be considered
