Job summary

KBR, Inc. invites an Electrical Engineer (Platforms) to contribute to critical defence platform systems within the DASSPO PBS program in Australia.

You will deliver expert electrical engineering services, guide sustainment activities, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve reliability, performance and safety of mission-critical capabilities. You will lead platform field services as required, apply engineering delegation, and provide risk-based technical advice to support informed decisions

Qualifications

  • Essential Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with requirements development, design review and acceptance within a regulated technical framework.
  • Eligibility for professional body membership and Chartered Engineer registration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Platform Systems Engineering SME guidance for CLCM requirements.
  • Autonomously deliver engineering outputs for changes to schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with approved policy, plans and processes.
  • Manage engineering tasks within Systems Engineering lifecycle and certification processes.
  • Oversee technical certification and ensure fitness for purpose of delivered systems.
  • Coordinate design reviews and risk assessments within engineering delegation.

The Opportunity:

Join KBR as an Electrical Engineer (Platforms) and play a key role in supporting critical Electrical Platform Systems across the DASSPO CLCM Products Being Supported (PBS).

Working within a highly collaborative engineering environment, you will deliver electrical engineering services, providing expert technical guidance on sustainment activities and complex engineering challenges.

As a recognised Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will work closely with a broad range of stakeholders, offering trusted advice on Electrical Platform and Product systems while contributing to the ongoing reliability, performance, and safety of mission‑critical capabilities.

You will also lead platform field services activities as required, applying your engineering expertise to support operational outcomes and informed decision‑making.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful technical work, exercise your Engineering delegation, and deliver risk‑based technical advice in support of the DASSPO Principal Engineer.

Responsibilities:

On various platform systems, provide Platform Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expertise, technical guidance in support of the Engineering activities required of the CLCM.

Autonomously deliver engineering outputs for engineering changes to planned schedule.

Deliver engineering activities to ensure compliance with approved policy, plans and processes.

Conduct work to the requirements of the Engineering Management Plan.

Exercise technical oversight and assurance over the engineering activities via the cycle of systems engineering, configuration control and materiel support processes.

Provide governance of technical certification of systems including compliance with standards, specifications and regulations and assuring fitness for purpose on delivered systems.

Manage the required systems engineering process including requirements engineering, integration engineering, verification and validation, test and evaluation for electrical engineering.

Develop tasking statements for design tasks to be executed in accordance with the planned schedule.

Review subcontracted quotations and deliverables for best practices and value for money outcomes with consideration for risk mitigation to as low as reasonably practicable.

Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop requirements and solutions to the requirements in the context of Engineering Change Management, configuration management, systems safety and certification.

Review engineering design task deliverables and conduct associated technical Design Reviews.

Conduct technical risk assessments within the limits of engineering delegation.

Perform as a SQEP endorsing engineering recommendations to the DASSPO Principal Engineer (PE).

Work within and to the requirements of Navy Seaworthiness framework and the DASSPO Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).

Verify new Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) against the approved Requirements baseline, Certification Basis and safety Case on the PBS.

Manage Request for Variations (RFV) assigned prior to expiry date to Return to Standard (RTS), Make Permanent or cancellation.

Formulate solutions to problems by working collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders.

Under general supervision, independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.

Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice, that may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, systems integration, conventional materials that are unsuitable, and difficult coordination requirements.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent, qualification in a recognised electrical Engineering related discipline Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework, example Department of Defence Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineering A minimum of 5 years related experience Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems Desired Experience in a Department of Defence design delivery Experience in marine design or maintenance All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
