Job summary

RED Engineering Design is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer based in Australia to lead projects and coordinate building services design for industrial and hospitality sectors. The role requires strong client-facing capabilities, hands-on engineering, and a track record in creating robust electrical designs.

The position emphasizes coordination of small and large projects, with international consulting experience and adherence to safety standards. Salary is AUD 77,500 per annum.

Qualifications

• Licensed or degree qualified or equivalent experience and have sufficient experience with international Consulting Engineering.
• Working towards or have achieved MCIBSE/MIEE/Professional/Chartered Engineer or equivalent status.
• Experience of specification design/drawing for at least one building type.
• Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation.
• Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, etc.
• Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software.
• Good understanding of BS SC standards and international design codes and standards.
• Ability to prioritise own workload.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Act in an ethical manner and follows the Ethics Code of Conduct and Ethics in Practice Guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Running the small projects: research, develop, design and coordinate engineering project services for mechanical or electrical installations.
• Develops specifications for controls, instruments, and operating systems for building services.

RED is an expanding international M&E consultancy, with a proven track record in low energy design, focused on providing excellent design solutions to clients.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to be based in our Australia office, with the ability to inspire others and lead both small and large projects. You will take on a client‑facing role in the development, design, and coordination of engineering projects. Candidates with an industrial background, preferably with experience in semiconductor facilities, cleanrooms, brownfield retrofitting, data centres, and other industrial projects. Additional sector experience in commercial, hotel, and retail design would be desirable.

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and clients, and experience working on innovative projects with leading client organisations, and contractors will equip you to take a future pro-active role in forging client relationships of our sector portfolio.

You will possess good commercial awareness, in addition to having robust technical knowledge relevant to building services design, and capable of incorporating those technologies into the hotel / hospitality and leisure sector. The position will ideally suit someone who is currently working in building service consultancy and is prepared to work ‘hands on’.

Salary will be AUD 77,500.00 per annum

Job Description

• Responsible for the running of small projects. Researches, develops, designs and assumes responsibility for coordination and monitoring of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc.
• Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
• Surveys tests and reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
• Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
• Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
• Preparation of specification modifications (word or excel)
• Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
• Responsible for validation of Intermediate & Graduate Engineer input into designs

Experiences / Qualifications
