Job summary

CBRE GWS Data Centre Solutions is seeking an Electrical Apprentice (Year 2–4) to support preventive maintenance and repairs within a data centre. Join a scaling hyperscale operation and gain hands-on experience under a mentor-led platform team.

This full-time, temporary role offers shift work with a 12-hour roaster and opportunities to upscale into a trades technician position; you will learn to manage service delivery end-to-end in a controlled data centre environment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed Year 10/12 and be enrolled in a 2nd–4th year program.
• Australian citizen with NV1 or detailed background check.
• Currently completing Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrical.
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the role.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily site inspections of Mechanical & Electrical systems and equipment.
• Support the team to maintain safe environmental conditions on site.
• Assist with emergency repairs in response to Building Management System alarms.
• Take meter readings from UPS, PDU and utilities during walkthroughs.
• Complete required training to perform job responsibilities.
• Follow established procedures for repetitive tasks.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
• Support subcontractor performance per the Master Service Agreement.
• Develop a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Contribute to a clean and organized work environment.

Static Role Support

About the Role:

As a CBRE Data Center Apprentice, you will assist the team in performing preventive maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation. This role is designed to provide you with hands-on experience and foundational knowledge in data center operations.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Electrical Engineering systems and technical equipment
• Support the team in ensuring the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment
• Observe and assist with emergency repairs in response to Building Management System alarms
• Help with taking meter readings from UPS, PDU’s, and u li es during building walkthroughs
• Participate in the complete on of all required training to ensure successful completion of job-related responsibilities
• Follow established procedures in the performance of repetitive tasks or job activities
• Assist in maintaining comprehensive maintenance records and documentation
• Support the team in ensuring subcontractor performance meets all requirements per the Master Service
• Agreement
• Develop a basic understanding of Mechanical and Electrical troubleshooting
• Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment

What You’ll Need:

• Completed Year 10/Year 12 & currently enrolled in a 2nd /3rd or 4th year college program or technical school TAFE/RMIT/Polytechnique or any equivalent
• Australian Citizen - comfortable with NV1 vetting or detailed Background Check process
• Currently completing Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrical
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work well within a team
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset and a willingness to learn
• Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups
• Ability to follow safety processes and requirements to ensure a safe work environment
• Willingness to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays
• Ability to develop skills to perform basic activities in the role and grow within the organization
