Qualifications

• Lead the design and governance of enterprise semantic models, certified datasets, KPIs, and business metrics.
• Translate business requirements into logical, dimensional and semantic data models.
• Design and develop enterprise-grade dimensional models using star schema principles, including fact tables, dimensions, relationships, hierarchies and appropriate data granularity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise analytical data models within data warehouse, including presentation layer tables, views and SQL transformations.
• Design, develop and maintain reusable and scalable semantic models in BI tools to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Define and implement business measures, KPIs, calculations and reusable business logic.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to identify source data requirements, resolve data modelling challenges and ensure data is structured appropriately for analytical consumption.
• Optimise semantic model performance including relationships, cardinality, filter propagation and underlying database query performance.
• Work closely with reporting and analytics teams to enable consumption of governed semantic models without duplicating business logic across reports.

The EL1 Data Modeller role is responsible for leading enterprise data modelling activities across multiple projects and initiatives. Working closely with architects, engineers, analysts and business stakeholders, the position drives best practice data modelling, governance and design to support the Agency's modern data platform and analytics capability.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Lead the design and governance of enterprise semantic models, certified datasets, KPIs, and business metrics.
• Engage with business stakeholders and data architects to understand business requirements and translate them into logical, dimensional and semantic data model.
• Design and develop enterprise grade dimensional models using start schema principles, including fact tables, dimensions, relationships, hierarchies and appropriate data granularity.
