Job summary

Department of Education in Western Australia seeks an Education Assistant - Special Needs to support students with diverse disabilities, providing a safe, inclusive learning environment.

A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check consent and current Screening Clearance are required before start.

In this role, you may contribute to the implementation of individualised and specialised programs, monitor student progress and share relevant feedback with teachers, families and caregivers.

Key responsibilities

• As an Education Assistant - Special Needs, you will play an important role in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for students with a diverse range of disabilities.
• Through strong communication and positive relationships, you will work collaboratively with teachers, families, external agencies and other members of the school team to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.
• You will ideally use positive and proactive strategies to develop students' academic, self-regulation, social and emotional skills, while building their confidence and independence.
• You will ideally work alongside students to recognise their strengths, celebrate their achievements and help them develop the skills they need to participate successfully and increasingly independently in their learning.

What you need

• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
