Medium Rare Content Agency (MRCA) is seeking an Editor in Chief for Australia’s #1 read magazine, Coles magazine. Reporting to the Head of Content, the Editor in Chief will work with the award winning team to ensure the magazine is continuing to provide everyday Australians with inspirational solutions for any food occasion.

This role is pivotal in driving audience engagement and growth, cross-channel collaboration and best in class execution. The Editor in Chief will be key in delivering on the Coles business objectives through audience-led insights and strategy. This role within Medium Rare will be the channel lead, responsible for working with the marketing team at Coles and associated agencies to ensure the print product is a connected meaningful part of the owned channel communication strategy.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop a focused 2–3 year executional channel strategy
  • Ensure the print product best reflects Coles’ expertise in food
  • Respond to client briefs and create always-on content stream strategies
  • Lead the channel team through the end-to-end production process
  • Commission and lead ideation sessions to surface innovative thinking
  • Work closely with the client and senior Medium Rare stakeholders to deliver on Coles’ business objectives
  • Drive collaboration across channels to ensure a cohesive, audience-focused communication strategy
  • Plan all print content within the seasonal briefing and production process
  • Advocate for best-practice content creation and process
Who are you?
  • You have significant experience in food content creation across varied channels and formats, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in print
  • You are passionate about all things print, including tone of voice, design and covers
  • You are a foodie at heart and consume food content widely
  • You are confident with direct client engagement and understand retail business objectives
  • You have a strong understanding of the content marketing industry in food or an adjacent lifestyle category
  • You understand the importance of collaboration and have led teams to great success
  • You value good process and have demonstrated experience defining and implementing new processes
  • You are a great communicator
  • You love the appeal of working within a mass retail category
  • You are a team player who can get into the weeds of execution where required
  • You have exceptional attention to detail
