Job summary

Abbotsleigh is seeking an accomplished Social Sciences Teacher to join our department from Term 1, 2027. You will teach Stage 6 Economics and Business Studies, designing inclusive lessons and contributing to curriculum development within a well-resourced department that values innovation and professional growth.

You will support students in developing data analysis, critical thinking, and evidence-based decision-making, while engaging in pastoral care and whole-school initiatives.

Qualifications

• Relevant teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation
• Demonstrated experience teaching Stage 6 Economics and/or Business Studies
• Deep understanding of effective pedagogical practices in Social Sciences education
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A collaborative, reflective approach to teaching and learning

Responsibilities

• Teaching Stage 6 Economics and Business Studies, fostering strong commercial awareness and economic literacy
• Designing inclusive, intellectually stimulating lessons that develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and real-world business and economic understanding
• Contributing to curriculum development and departmental planning
• Supporting students in developing research, data analysis, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making skills
• Engaging in pastoral care and supporting student wellbeing
• Participating in whole-school initiatives and co-curricular programs
