Job summary

Native Foresters is seeking a trained ecologist to join our Sunshine Coast team. The role focuses on field surveys, flora and fauna identifications, and ecological assessments across the SE Queensland region.

The successful candidate will contribute to habitat restoration, environmental planning, and compliance reporting, leveraging GIS mapping skills and practical knowledge of local ecosystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ecology or related field is required.
• Proven field survey experience and ability to identify flora and fauna.
• Strong knowledge of local SE Queensland flora and fauna.
• Experience with GIS mapping and environmental surveys preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct flora and fauna surveys across SE Queensland.
• Assist in development of habitat assessments and management plans.
• Support environmental reporting, permits and compliance activities.
• Contribute to restoration and revegetation projects and monitoring.

Our background in Natural Resource management and natural ecology has been incorporated with on ground experience to ensure Native Foresters provides an integrated approach to our clients' natural resource management projects. The Native Foresters team has an in depth knowledge and understanding of the relevant State and Federal environmental legislation and how it impacts the requirements of the projects we undertake on behalf of clients.

• Bat echolocation surveys and acoustic analysis.
• Species Management Plans for CREVNT- listed fauna including SMPImplementation works.

Environmental Management, Reporting and Compliance

• Preparation and implementation of Construction EnvironmentalManagement Plans.

• Operational Works Permit for clearing applications.
• GIS mapping services and spatial analysis.

Native Foresters requires a trained ecologist to join our team. The successful candidate should be able to work in the areas outlined above. A good practical knowledge and capacity for identification of Flora and Fauna species and communities in the SE QLD area would be an advantage.
