Job summary

Animal Referral and Emergency Network in Canberra is seeking experienced ECC veterinary nurses for full-time or part-time roles in a fast-paced emergency environment. You will work alongside specialists in Medicine and Surgery, supported by our Rehabilitation department for holistic patient care.

The ideal candidate holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent), with 3+ years of clinical emergency experience, able to work under pressure, and with strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
• 3+ years clinical experience in Emergency or busy GP settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and education.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency and hospitalised patients.
• Support veterinarians with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures.
• Monitor patients, administer medications, and maintain accurate medical records.
• Assist in surgical and critical care cases as required.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients during stressful situations.
• Uphold hospital policies, infection control standards, and safety procedures.
• Contribute positively to team culture and knowledge sharing.

We’re on the hunt for Full-Time and Part-Time Vet Nurses to join our Emergency & Critical Care team where every shift counts, every patient matters, and no two nights are ever the same.

At ARH Canberra, you’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with specialists in Medicine and Surgery and collaborate with our Rehabilitation department for truly holistic patient care. This is where skill meets heart and chaos meets calm.

In this role, you will:
