Overview
About the Role

As an Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) you will focus on the Return To Work (RTW) aspect of high‑risk workers compensation claims which are pending approval and acceptance. The EIS will provide guidance and assistance to employers with the aim of facilitating an early, safe and sustainable return to work for injured workers, and helping to set up a claim to get a head start before it reaches the claims management team.

In this customer facing role, you will be on the front line providing excellent customer service by phone to a variety of stakeholders. From time to time, you may need to travel to employer work sites and participate in site claims reviews.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Identifying claims that may benefit from early RTW assistance.
  • Contacting employers to determine the level of engagement with the worker about RTW, potential barriers, and consider what assistance is required.
  • Educating employers around how to meet their RTW obligations and may also engage further services depending on the need of a specific claim.
  • Referring claims to Occupational Rehabilitation Providers, our Mobile Case Management team for treating health provider Case Conferencing.
  • Ensuring others in the business involved in the Early Intervention (EI) program have the required resources and training to undertake their roles.
  • Being readily available and accessible to GB staff involved in the EI program to provide guidance and to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
About You
  • Claims/case management experience within Workers Compensation industry.
  • In depth understanding of work cover and VWA guidelines and procedures, as well as practical application of these.
  • Knowledge of and experience in managing complex claims, and the ability to understand or read complex claims indicators.
  • An understanding of types of injuries, and how they impact Return to Work outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring skills.
