Job summary

Head Start of Lane County seeks an assistant to support the Head Teacher in delivering comprehensive Early Head Start services for infants and toddlers. The role ensures a safe, supervised educational setting across classroom, outdoor play, and field trips, aligned with program standards and confidentiality policies.

The ideal candidate has infant/toddler experience, strong communication skills, and must obtain Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Infant/toddler care experience is preferred and required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.
• Computer skills, Internet and e-mail needed.
• Must obtain pediatric CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor children at all times.
• Assist in setting up indoor/outdoor environments for daily activities.
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom conducive to development.
• Use developmentally appropriate practices with groups and individuals.
• Observe and record behaviors to identify strengths and growth areas.
• Encourage parental involvement and communication.
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid if needed.
• Assist with daily meal service and classroom duties.
