Job summary

Rural City of Wangaratta is hiring Early Childhood Educators at Certificate III and Diploma levels for Level 2 and Level 3 roles in our Wangaratta Children’s Services Centre. Enjoy above-ratio staffing, flexible rosters (7.30am–5.30pm), and true downtime over Christmas. Growth, support, and a strong team culture are core to our approach.

Level 2 focuses on play-based learning and routines, while Level 3 leads in program design, family relationships and mentoring. Applications close soon.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care (or equivalent).
• Enthusiasm to learn and grow in a supportive team.
• Strong communication and a genuine love for working with children.
• Willingness to obtain First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma Management certifications.
• Current Working with Children Check & willingness to obtain a Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Level 2: assist in delivering play-based learning programs and daily routines under guidance.
• Level 3: design and implement learning programs, mentor staff and contribute to planning cycles.
• Both levels support the Centre’s goal of achieving the National Quality Standard and positive outcomes for children aged 0–6.

• Certificate III - $43.32 per hour + super(includes 25% loading)
• Diploma - $45.95 per hour + super(includes 25% loading)

About the Roles:

Perfect for early career educators or those returning to the sector, Level 2 educators assist in delivering play-based learning programs, support children’s daily routines, and help maintain a safe, engaging environment. You’ll work under the guidance of Room Leaders and Diploma-qualified staff while developing your own skills and confidence.

As a Level 3 educator, you’ll take a lead role in designing and implementing learning programs, building strong relationships with families, mentoring team members, and contributing to planning cycles that support children’s development and wellbeing.

Both levels contribute to the Centre’s goal of achieving the highest National Quality Standard and creating positive, lasting impacts in the lives of children aged 0–6.

What You’ll Bring:

Level 2 (Certificate III) Requirements:

• Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care (or equivalent)
• Enthusiasm to learn and grow in a supportive team
• Strong communication and a genuine love for working with children

• Current Working with Children Check & willingness to obtain a Police Check

Level 3 (Diploma) Requirements:

• Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care (or equivalent)
• Experience in planning and delivering quality educational programs
• Ability to take initiative and lead within the room
• Excellent relationship-building skills with families, children & colleagues
• First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma Management certifications
• Current Working with Children Check & willingness to obtain a Police Check
