Location and Compensation

• Victoria, BC V9C 3B1 – on site
• Salary: $36.00 per hour
• Hours: 40 hours per week; overtime required (morning, day, weekend)
• Employment type: Permanent, full time
• Starts as soon as possible; 2 vacancies

Qualifications

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in drywall, plaster, or related trades
• Team player; able to work at heights on scaffolding, swing stages, or falsework
• Must be authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with a valid work permit)

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster; cure freshly plastered surfaces
• Clean and prepare surfaces; cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets
• Manufacture and install suspended metal ceiling grids, form acoustical and coffered ceilings, install corner beads, wire mesh and metal stud framing
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife; mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices and trim
• Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets; mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
• Prepare wall and ceiling layouts; estimate costs and materials
• Work at heights on scaffolding, swing stages; erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
