The Forensic Mental Health Service is a statewide service that operates as part of the Forensic Mental Health Division of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network. NALHN is commissioned by the Department for Health and Wellbeing to provide general health and mental health services for the north and north east of metropolitan Adelaide and statewide mental health services for forensic patients and prisoners.
The Forensic Mental Health Service is comprised of a multitude of services, all of which have specialised sub-services; such as, Forensic Inpatient Service, Forensic Community Health, Ashton House, and Forensic Court Services. James Nash House is part of the Forensic Inpatient Services, which provide custody and care to forensic patients committed to detention, forensic patients released on licence who become acutely unwell and to prisoners requiring inpatient care.
