Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a proactive Driver/Operator to support construction and maintenance projects. You will operate heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment, perform labouring duties, and work under Construction and Maintenance Forepersons and the Plant Allocator to ensure safe, efficient task completion.

Key responsibilities include pre-start safety checks, reporting equipment issues, loading trucks, and maintaining equipment cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Essential: Class MR Licence; Construction Induction Card (White Card); Load Shifting Plant Operator competency; Traffic Control Ticket / License.
• Desirable: Experience operating a Grader and Class HR Licence
• Essential: Previous experience as a plant operator and truck driver
• Desirable: Familiarity with Council’s vehicle accident procedures and experience in manual tasks within the construction industry

Responsibilities

About The Role

The Driver / Operator position is essential for the effective execution of construction and maintenance projects. You will operate heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment while performing various labouring duties as required. This role is under the guidance of Construction and Maintenance Forepersons and the Plant Allocator, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include conducting pre-start safety checks, reporting equipment issues, and adhering to legal and safety regulations. You will also be required to assist with loading trucks and maintain equipment cleanliness and security.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a proactive individual who is willing to learn and adapt to new challenges. The ideal candidate will possess the following:
