Job summary

Queensland Health in Brisbane is seeking an Advanced Recreation Officer to support the Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Service Disaster Flood Team. The role focuses on delivering diversional therapy programs to disaster-impacted communities, promoting psychosocial wellbeing and resilience.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assess needs, plan community-based activities, and advocate for consumer-centred care while ensuring safety and inclusivity.

Qualifications

• Advanced Certificate in Disability Studies or equivalent.
• Certificate IV in Health and Community Services (Diversional Therapy) or equivalent.
• Current class C motor vehicle licence endorsement.
• Demonstrates ability to plan, implement and evaluate mental health recovery-focused programs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and deliver age-appropriate, culturally sensitive recreational/diversion programs.
• Assess diversional and recreation therapy needs with consumer-centred approach and ensure safety.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community networks to improve access to services and promote psychosocial wellbeing.
