Job summary

Discover Nursing Australia is seeking a friendly Disability Support Worker to assist a participant in Wagga Wagga with social activities and community participation. The role focuses on building rapport, supporting enjoyable outings and helping the participant stay connected with their local community.

You will provide 1:1 support, accompany the participant to groups, cafés and events, and help plan outings while maintaining accurate progress notes and documentation.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• Current National Police Check.
• Current First Aid Certificate and CPR certification.
• Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
• Australian working rights.
• Current driver’s licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle if providing participant transport.
• ABN or willingness to obtain one.
• Professional, reliable and participant-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Support one participant with social activities and community participation.
• Attend social groups, community events and recreational activities.
• Visit cafes, parks and local attractions with the participant.
• Assist with planning and attending outings and transport when required.
• Maintain accurate progress notes and support documentation.

We are seeking friendly, reliable and engaging Disability Support Workers to support a participant with social activities and community participation in Wagga Wagga.

The focus is on building a positive relationship, supporting enjoyable activities and helping the participant stay connected with their community.

Support days and hours will be discussed during the matching process.

The Role:

Support may include:

• Companionship, conversation and social engagement.
• Attending social groups, community events and recreational activities.
• Visiting cafés, parks and local attractions.
• Exploring hobbies and interests chosen by the participant.
• Supporting confidence and participation in social settings.
• Assisting with planning and attending outings.
• Providing transport for agreed community activities, where required.
• Encouraging independence and respecting participant choice.
• Maintaining accurate progress notes and support documentation.

Activities will be guided by the participant’s interests, preferences and support plan.
