Job summary

Kanda is seeking a Disability Support Worker in Cairns to provide person-centred support for people with a range of needs. You’ll help with daily living skills, personal care and community participation, and support goal attainment while maintaining safety and clear documentation.

We value genuine connections, calm professionalism, and a willingness to learn. Induction starts soon with paid shadow shifts; casual and part-time options available, pay $35–46 per hour plus super and penalties.

Qualifications

• You’ve supported people with disability before, including complex behaviours or higher needs.
• You’re calm, patient and professional, especially when things get challenging.
• You build genuine relationships while keeping clear professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Help people build independence and develop everyday living skills
• Be there for personal care, household tasks and community participation
• Support people to work towards their own goals and enjoy meaningful experiences
• Stay calm and consistent, including with people who have complex behaviours
• Build safe, trusting relationships, backed by clear documentation and good teamwork
