Job summary

CareChoice in Victoria is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to assist NDIS participants in the Eastern Suburbs. You will provide person-centred support and help participants achieve their goals with a calm, professional approach.

Key requirements include a Certificate III or IV in Individual Support or Disability and 2+ years’ experience, with mental health and complex behaviours experience. A valid driver’s licence, WWCC, First Aid/CPR are essential for community access.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability or a similar/related field.
• Minimum 2+ years experience as a Disability Support Worker.
• Experience supporting participants with mental illness and complex behaviours of concern.
• Strong understanding of professional boundaries.
• Experience providing manual handling, personal care and medication support.
• Ability to follow support plans and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered support to participants with complex behavioural support needs.
• Support participants with community access and achieving their individual goals.
• Assist with manual handling, personal care and other activities of daily living.
• Follow Behaviour Support Plans and Client Care Plans including established safety strategies.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to behaviours of concern and challenging behaviours.
• Work collaboratively with the broader care team.
