Job description

Aspen Medical is seeking an experienced Director Remuneration & Payroll to join our leadership team. This unique role combines strategic oversight of our remuneration and benefits frameworks with accountability for payroll operations across multiple regions. As an adviser to the Executive Team and Board Committees you will shape reward strategies that attract, motivate and retain top talent while ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with legislation.

This position will suit a leader who is as comfortable at the board table as they are refining payroll processes. A rare mix of strategic thinking, governance and operational delivery. You will lead a high‑performing team, partner with key functions across the business and drive continuous improvement in our reward and payroll practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and govern Aspen Medical's remuneration and benefits frameworks including executive remuneration incentive programmes and recognition schemes.
  • Lead the annual remuneration review process supported by robust benchmarking and pay equity analysis.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end payroll delivery across Australia (and selected regions) ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency.
  • Drive enhancements to payroll systems, processes and vendor management for sustainable improvement.
  • Provide strategic reporting insights and recommendations to the Executive Team and Board Committees.
  • Lead, develop and mentor a team of specialists while fostering collaboration across HR, Finance, Legal and Risk.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in a senior remuneration and/or payroll leadership role within a complex, fast‑paced organisation.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian legislation covering remuneration, superannuation, payroll tax, leave accruals and industrial instruments (e.g., Modern Awards, enterprise agreements).
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing and managing remuneration frameworks and employee benefits programmes.
  • Strong payroll governance, compliance and operational delivery experience with proven ability to uplift systems and processes.
  • Advanced analytical and data‑interpretation skills with experience preparing reports and papers for executives and boards.
  • Exceptional stakeholder‑engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • High level of integrity with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
Desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Finance or Business.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (Oracle) and payroll systems (MicroPay).
  • Exposure to payroll compliance across Asia‑Pacific or expatriate remuneration frameworks.
