Job summary

Carey Baptist College, Forrestdale, invites an experienced educational leader to become Dean of Pastoral Care, starting 1 January 2027. This role shapes how staff support wellbeing, belonging, behaviour and learning across the Secondary School.

You'll lead pastoral care delivery, grow the team, and partner with families and specialists to create a culture where students are supported, challenged and empowered to take responsibility for themselves and others.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
• Significant teaching experience and demonstrated educational leadership capability.
• Sophisticated understanding of adolescent development, student wellbeing and pastoral care.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for pastoral care across the Secondary School.
• Develop and strengthen Carey’s pastoral care framework, programs, practices and systems.
• Lead and develop Year Managers and other members of the pastoral and wellbeing team.
• Collaborate with Counselling, Inclusive Education and College leadership to coordinate support.
• Engage families when students experience significant learning or wellbeing challenges.
• Use student information and patterns to identify preventative support needs.
• Contribute to College leadership discussions and help connect wellbeing with teaching and school strategy.
