Job description

Our PE-backed alternative property business is looking for an experienced Operations Lead, with previously hotel/hospitality experience.

  • An opportunity to be a part of an inspiring, capable leadership team
  • circa. $130k - 145k + super

You'll be stepping into a role that requires both tactical execution and strategic foresight — someone who can stabilise and elevate the performance of a more junior, energetic team while implementing scalable systems.

About the Role

My client is in the business of disrupting a stagnant sector with a unique focus on client well‑being and sustainability. They have experienced rapid growth, strong customer loyalty and success expanding in Australia over the last five years and are now going through a period of rapid scale‑up and global expansion, offering the chance to join a growing business at a pivotal stage of growth.

The Director of Operations is a senior leadership role with national accountability for operational excellence, team performance, and the execution of growth strategy across Australia.

  • Driving consistency in service delivery and operational standards nationally
  • Implementing and refining SOPs that can scale with the business
  • Managing COGS as a critical weekly KPI, with strong forecasting and risk mitigation
  • Lifting national NPS scores through operational improvements and quality control
  • Developing and solidifying the operations team, building capability and performance across all states
  • Collaborating closely with most divisions in the business
About You

You're an operational leader with proven execution skills — someone who doesn't just strategise, but gets things done.

You've led multi‑site operations teams before, ideally across cities or regions, and you know how to balance tactical firefighting with longer‑term systems thinking.

You thrive in dynamic, fast‑growth environments where agility and adaptability matter more than rigid playbooks. What matters most is that you have end‑to‑end operational exposure, understand revenue and cost drivers, and can think commercially while maintaining a relentless focus on guest experience.

You're a natural people leader who can take a junior team on a journey — coaching, developing, and lifting performance while building a high‑trust, accountable culture.

What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in multi‑site operations leadership across hospitality, serviced apartments, property management, or related service‑based industries
  • Experience in Hospitality, Hotels, Services Apartments or similar
  • Proven people management skills — you've built, coached, and developed operational teams and can lift performance across different locations
  • Strong commercial acumen — comfortable managing P&L elements including COGS, Opex, and operational cost efficiency
  • Experience with quality control and compliance — you understand how to implement and maintain standards through internal audit programs and SOP frameworks
  • Adaptability and growth mindset — you've worked in fast‑paced, evolving environments (startups, rapid expansion, or turnaround scenarios) and know how to deliver results with agility
  • Data‑driven and process‑oriented — able to use metrics like NPS, COGS, and team productivity to drive continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills — you work seamlessly across functions (technology, property, revenue, guest services) and can influence without direct authority
  • Willingness to travel domestically as required to support properties and teams across Australia
