GenesisCare has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Nursing to join our SA Senior Leadership team. You will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the nursing team and for the development, implementation and documentation of evidence based best nursing practice for patients and their carer’s.

The purpose of this position is to have a strategic oversight of nursing services across both State and National initiatives and to facilitate the provision of nursing care according to the National Safety and Quality standards (NSQHS).

On offer is a permanent full-time opportunity, working Monday-Friday.

More specifically, you will :
  • Provide overall nursing leadership and direction to nursing staff at GenesisCare.
  • Liaise professionally with clinical and management teams at GenesisCare regarding nursing matters.
  • Actively participate in and lead the design of nursing services at GenesisCare.
  • Support accountability and communication structures within the Clinical areas of GenesisCare and the wider organisation.
  • Use benchmarking to evaluate ongoing nursing performance across GenesisCare.
  • Drive changes in nursing policy, procedures in alignment with National standards and clinical governance & service direction.
  • Progress the development of Performance Development Plans (PDP) and ensure that a program for professional growth is sustained in all nursing areas at GenesisCare, in consultation with line managers ( Centre Leaders / Nurse Unit Managers).
  • Support access to education programs, resources and professional development activities for nursing are maintained at a high standard. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure up-to-date information is available to provide a service to patients regarding specific consumer health information.
Reporting & Information Management :
  • Contribute to nursing budgets allocated and assist where appropriate with financial performance in line with the requirements of GenesisCare.
  • Collaborate and liaise with Centre Leaders and Operations Manager to manage FTE and rostering systems to achieve FTE performance targets to meet clinical needs.
  • Collaborate with Quality & Safety Manager and support quality initiatives across the health services.
  • As relevant liaise with representatives of Industrial Associations such as the Australian Nursing Federation through appropriate Staff Consultative Committees, as well as on a need’s basis for individual staff.
We’re looking for someone who has :
  • Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate issued by AHPRA with at least seven years of recent nursing experience inclusive of acute care.
  • Must have experience in Oncology.
  • An undergraduate nursing degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrated successful experience at senior management level with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Proven track record in meeting service targets and key deliverables.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing an organisational change process within a large health service.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult and negotiate effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills in formulating new approaches and developing comprehensive implementation and improvement strategies for nursing services.
  • Practices in accordance with all legislation affecting professional nursing practice.
  • Participates in self-evaluation and performance management in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Proficiency with computer software and proven ability to write reports.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to effectively advocate through collaborative communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at a high level for beneficial business outcomes.
  • You will be required to travel between our SA sites.
Other desirable attributes for this role :
  • Post graduate qualification in oncology or evidence of advanced clinical practice in oncology nursing.
  • Post Graduate qualification in health-related business management.
  • Membership of relevant professional body / special interest group CNSA.
