Job summary

Bathurst Health Service in NSW seeks an experienced Director of Emergency Medicine for an initial 36-month contract to provide clinical leadership and oversee emergency department operations.

The role includes medical staff management, governance, and collaboration with hospital leadership; on-site duties with 4-day weeks and a daily rate of AUD 3,000. ACEM accreditation and staff development are priorities.

Qualifications

• Medical qualification in Emergency Medicine and eligibility to practise in NSW.
• Experience leading an Emergency Department and clinical governance.
• ACEM accreditation and education program involvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage medical staff and VMOs, oversee departmental operations.
• Ensure safe practice, documentation quality and clinical governance.
• Lead performance reviews and development plans for staff.
• Maintain effective rostering balancing service needs and staff development.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to improve patient flow and planning.
