A government agency in Australia is seeking a Director for its Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence team. The role involves contributing to law reform initiatives and improving legal responses to domestic and sexual violence. The ideal candidate will possess relevant qualifications in law and demonstrate experience in influencing legal policy. This is a temporary position from January to June 2026. The Criminal Law Branch develops and implements policy, law reform, legislation and programs relating to the criminal justice system.
The Director in this role will work in the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence team in the Branch and be responsible for contributing to the development of law reform in the ACT as part of work of the team.
The Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence team works on a range of projects to improve legal responses to family, domestic and sexual violence, including work towards criminalising coercive control in the ACT. The position may also, from time to time, contribute to the broader work of the Criminal Law Branch including work in relation to bail, evidence, sentencing, corrections, policing, firearms, unexplained wealth, minimum age of criminal responsibility, and the construction and framing of offences in ACT legislation.
