The Department Of Employment And Workplace Relations in Australia is seeking an EL2 leader to drive the Closing the Gap agenda, guide reform across the department, and partner with First Nations stakeholders. Reporting to the Assistant Secretary, Closing the Gap, the role focuses on governance, monitoring and strategic advice at a senior level.

Reporting to the Assistant Secretary, Closing the Gap, Directors are responsible for providing strategic leadership for DEWR's Closing the Gap agenda and influencing organisational reform across the department. The roles involve inspiring and challenging DEWR business units to critically assess their approaches, their successes and drive innovative solutions for working in genuine partnership with First Nations stakeholders. The roles will also lead monitoring and reporting activities, including providing strategic input to internal governance committees and embedding Closing the Gap Priority Reforms across all of DEWR’s business.

This is a designated security assessed position. The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
This selection process may be used to establish a merit pool. The pool might be accessed to fill ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies for similar roles in the Department over the next 18 months
