Job summary

ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) seeks a Director of Clinical Practice to lead clinical governance and defensible decision making across Offender Reintegration in Canberra. The appointee will shape services for high-need clients and collaborate with government and community partners to reduce recidivism.

The role requires extensive clinical leadership, robust stakeholder engagement, and the ability to drive strategic policy across directorates. WWVP and police checks are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or Nursing is mandatory.
  • Postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body, is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or willingness to work with offenders in custody and the community is essential.
  • Minimum of five years paid work employment post-qualification providing clinical services to vulnerable and/or disadvantaged people.
  • Successful candidate will undergo National Police Check and background checks.
  • Current WWVP registration is required if not covered by a professional body.
  • If visa is needed, eligibility to work in Australia is required; otherwise employment will be terminated.

Job description

ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS)is seeking a highly motivated, suitably qualified and experienced candidate tofill the position of Director, Clinical Practice (HP5), within OffenderReintegration.

The Director, Clinical Practice, will support clinical best practice,operational governance and defensible decision making across all operationalareas of Offender Reintegration, which aims to promote positive outcomes forindividuals and the community, and to reduce recidivism.

This successful applicant will shape service provision for people withhigh and complex needs, working collaboratively with government, the communityservices sector, and people with lived experience, to make a tangibledifference in the Canberra community.

In addition, you will provide expert advice and analysis in respect ofcomplex matters, undertake clinical data collation, evaluation and reportingand contribute to strategic, cross-directorate, operational policy directionand implementation.

To be successful, you will possess excellent interpersonal,organisational and communication skills necessary to build rapport with adiverse range of clients and stakeholders, in addition to demonstrating strong,ethical, collaborative, and highly visible leadership.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Graduate qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology,or Nursing is mandatory.

Demonstrated experience and/or willingness to work with offenders incustody and the community is essential.

Applicants must have a minimum of five years paid work employment, postqualification, providing clinical services to vulnerable and/or disadvantagedpeople in a relevant role.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National PoliceCheck and background checks.

Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People(Background Checking) Act 2011 (ACT) is required if you are not registered by aprofessional body for which this is covered. To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACTPublic Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent residentor hold a valid work visa.
