Job summary

ALDI Stores is seeking a Director – Buying for our Minchinbury head office. This fixed-term role (to December 2027) leads category strategy across core range and special buys, reporting to the Group Director – Buying and guiding a team of up to five.

You will bring commercial acumen, market insight and strategic focus to deliver growth and strengthen financial performance. You will manage supplier relationships, drive range decisions, and collaborate with ALDI’s global sourcing to harmonise

• Extensive buying leadership experience at a senior level within FMCG or grocery, with proven commercial impact.

Job Description

Twofixed-term Director - Buying opportunities have become available to lead ALDI’s grocery categories, based at our Minchinbury head office up untilDecember 2027.

This is a unique opportunity to play a defining role in shaping the future of ALDI’s Grocery offering, leading category strategy across both our core range and special buys. Reporting to the Group Director – Buying and leading a team of up to five, you will bringstrong commercial acumen,market insight and strategic focus to deliver meaningful growth, strengthen financial performance and help curate the products our customers know and love.

What will you be responsible for?

• Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team culture to deliver exceptional results.
• Drive sales and profitability through effective range management.
• Effectively manage supplier relationships and key stakeholders to achieveoptimalbuying outcomes, including on time delivery of product and consistent product quality.
• Analyse data andidentifytrends and opportunities across ALDI’s grocerycategories
• Providestrategic recommendations to the Group Director- Buying on new product development/trials/retails/deletions.
• Regularly sample range and competitor products to ensure competitiveness of the portfolio.
• Manage tender schedules in line with contract timing and strategic negotiations to achieve superior cost outcomes.
• Management of product launches from concept to delivery within settimeframes.
• Liaise with ALDI’s Global Sourcing Office on harmonised products,forecastingand contract management.

Qualifications

• Extensive buying experience at a comparable leadership level within the FMCG or grocery sector, bringing the commercial confidence and categoryexpertiseto make an immediate impact.
• Proven ability to lead through change, bringing teams and stakeholders on the journey with clarity,resilienceand purpose.
• A strong people leader who knows how to engage, motivate and empower teams to deliver high performance.
• Demonstratedexpertisein supplier negotiations, with the ability to balance quality,valueand commercial outcomes.
• Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence senior leaders, navigate diverse perspectives and build alignment around positive outcomes.
• Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret business performance, markettrendsand customer insights to shape category strategy.
