Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Director in Aviation & Pavements based in Melbourne to provide technical leadership and project direction across a portfolio of aviation and pavement projects.

You will work with industry-leading specialists, connect to AECOM’s global aviation network, and help grow our ANZ aviation capability while delivering sustainable outcomes for communities and clients.

Qualifications

• 15+ years' experience across aviation infrastructure, airfield engineering and/or pavement engineering.
• Strong experience in aviation pavement design, assessment, checking and verification.
• Proven leadership of complex aviation infrastructure projects from planning to construction.

Job Description

AECOM is delivering some of the most complex and exciting aviation infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. From major international airports and regional aviation hubs to Defence airfields and airside infrastructure, our Aviation & Pavements team is helping shape the future of aviation across the region.

Based in Melbourne, this is an opportunity to join a highly respected team with a strong pipeline of airport, airfield and pavement projects already underway, while playing a key role in the continued growth of our Aviation business across Victoria and ANZ. You will work alongside industry-leading technical specialists and be connected to AECOM’s global aviation network, including more than 850 aviation professionals worldwide.

As a Director in Aviation & Pavements, you will provide technical leadership, project direction and client engagement across a diverse portfolio of aviation and pavement projects.

• Lead the delivery of complex aviation and pavement projects across Melbourne and the wider ANZ region
• Build and strengthen relationships with airport operators, Defence clients, contractors and key industry stakeholders
• Drive technical excellence across aviation pavement design, asset management and airside infrastructure projects
• Support business development, work winning and strategic growth initiatives across the aviation market
• Lead multidisciplinary teams through planning, design and project delivery phases
• Provide project oversight as a Project Director, Design Manager or Senior Project Manager
• Contribute to the development and execution of AECOM's ANZ Aviation strategy
• Collaborate with AECOM's Global Aviation Technical Academy and international aviation network to bring world-class expertise to local projects

Qualifications

What you'll bring

We're looking for an established aviation and/or pavement leader who combines deep technical expertise with commercial awareness, strong client relationships and the ability to bring people together around a shared vision.

• 15+ years' experience across aviation infrastructure, airfield engineering and/or pavement engineering.
• Strong experience in aviation pavement design, assessment, checking and verification, with a sound understanding of airside pavement performance and construction.
• Demonstrated capability in the checking and verification of aviation/aircraft pavement works, including reviewing designs, construction methodologies and completed works against relevant standards and specifications.
• Proven experience leading complex aviation infrastructure projects from planning and design through to construction support.
• Experience working with commercial airports, defence clients or major transport infrastructure stakeholders.
• A strong understanding of aviation standards and guidelines, including CASA, ICAO, IATA and/or FAA frameworks.
• Demonstrated success building senior client relationships, identifying opportunities and contributing to business growth and winning work.
• Proven leadership capability, including mentoring and developing technical teams.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and working across complex stakeholder environments.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A relevant engineering or related tertiary qualification, with Chartered status or equivalent highly regarded.
