SECONDHAND FORKLIFTS PTY. LTD. in Bayswater, VIC is seeking an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to service, diagnose and repair forklifts and heavy commercial vehicles. This full-time in-person role requires a trade qualification and strong diesel, electrical and diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
• At least two years of relevant heavy commercial vehicle mechanical experience.
• Experience servicing and repairing diesel-powered freight trucks, buses or other heavy road transport vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines of forklifts and heavy vehicle components.
• Inspecting and testing diesel engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and driveline systems.
• Using diagnostic computers and testing equipment to identify faults.
• Repairing or replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts.
• Maintaining accurate repair and maintenance records.

Diesel Motor Mechanic Secondhand Forklifts Sales & Service Bayswater VIC 3153 Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year Work Location: In person, FULL TIME position About the role

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to undertake servicing, maintenance, diagnosis and repair work on Forklifts and heavy commercial road vehicles. This is a full-time, ongoing position for a qualified tradesperson with strong diesel mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills. The successful applicant will work independently and as part of our service team to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable and maintained to a high standard.

Key duties Your duties will include:

• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines of forklifts and heavy vehicle components
• Inspecting and testing diesel engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and driveline systems
• Using diagnostic computers and testing equipment to identify faults
• Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components for inspection and repair
• Repairing or replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts
• Reassembling engines and mechanical components after repair
• Testing and adjusting repaired parts to ensure safe and correct performance
• Performing scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, engine servicing and tune-ups
• Inspecting and servicing diesel fuel injection, cooling, charging and starting systems
• Diagnosing and repairing heavy vehicle air braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems and manual or automatic transmissions
• Inspecting and servicing hydraulic systems, drive shafts, clutches and final drive assemblies
• Reading and interpreting manufacturer specifications, workshop manuals and technical information
• Completing workshop repairs and attending breakdown service calls where required
• Preparing service reports and maintaining accurate repair and maintenance records
• Maintaining a clean and safe workshop and following all workplace safety procedures

Skills, qualifications and experience To be considered, you should have:

• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent relevant trade qualification
• At least two years of relevant heavy commercial vehicle mechanical experience
• Experience servicing and repairing diesel-powered freight trucks, buses or other heavy road transport vehicles.

Forklift maintenance will be added advantage.

• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Experience with diesel engines, fuel systems, transmissions, steering, suspension, air brakes and driveline systems
• Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment and read technical manuals
• A strong commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship
• A current driver licence is preferred.
