Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd in Mackay QLD is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter or Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Component Rebuild team. You will tear down, inspect, rebuild and test major Caterpillar components, ensuring OEM standards and precise workmanship.

This permanent role offers a Monday–Friday pattern or a 4/3 roster, with a strong safety culture, on-site work, and opportunities to grow technical expertise across heavy equipment and mining applications.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Diesel Fitter or Heavy Diesel Mechanic with proven experience in heavy equipment

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, rebuild and test major Caterpillar components.
• Diagnose faults and assess wear across components.
• Measure parts to Caterpillar specs with precision.
• Perform repairs and replacements per OEM standards and workshop manuals.
• Complete job reports and service documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop.
• Collaborate with internal teams to meet turnaround times.
• Uphold safety and quality at all times.
