Job summary

Fortescue is seeking a skilled Diesel/Plant technician for our Eliwana Mine Services Power and Water team to maintain water assets, including gensets, pumps, and control valves, ensuring reliability to support continuous operations.

The role reports to the Mechanical and Operational Supervisor and requires a diesel trade background, strong safety values, and the ability to work both in a team and independently. Forklift/HR tickets are required or advantageous.

Qualifications

• Diesel trade background in plant/diesel engines and pumps.
• Dewatering systems experience preferable.
• Self-motivated with ability to work in a team or alone.
• Strong safety values and good communication skills.
• Experience with Fortescue systems (BMS, SAP, SCADA, Outlook) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing, maintenance, and breakdown repairs on generators and diesel pumps.
• Prioritise and attend breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Diagnostics and fault finding on diesel engines and water pumps.
• Inspect and maintain bore pumps, centrifugal pumps, fire pumps, and valves.

Our Opportunity

Work Location: Eliwana

Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people

Roster: 7D7RNR

The Mine service's team at Eliwana ensures that mining can operate below the water table and to ensure the site water and power demand has an uninterrupted supply.

Reporting to the Mechanical and Operational Supervisor, this position offers a key role for Fortescue’s Eliwana Mine Services Power and Water team focusing on maintaining water assets which includes centrifugal pumps, generators, submersible pumps, isolation, and control valves.

Key Responsibilities

• Routine servicing, maintenance, and breakdown repairs on the fleet of generators and diesel pumps
• Prioritise and attend breakdowns to ensure minimal downtime
• Diagnostics and fault finding of Diesel engines and Water pumps.
• Inspection and maintenance of Multistage Bore Pumps, Centrifugal Pumps, fire pumps and isolation and controls valves
• Refuelling of generators and pumps

Qualifications And Experience

• Diesel trade background in either Light vehicle/ Heavy diesel/plant trade as majority of work is diesel engine powered gensets or pumps.
• Dewatering Systems Experience preferable.
• Self-motivated and ability to work in a strong team environment as well as individually.
• Strong organizational and communication skills both verbal and written
• Demonstrate strong safety values
• Experience with Fortescue’s computer-based systems (BMS, SAP, SCADA, Outlook)
• HR drivers’ license and forklift essential.
• EWP, CN, rigging or dogging tickets preferable
