The Aquarium in Canberra is seeking an experienced IaC/DevOps Engineer to design, build and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and automation tools. This on-site 12-month contract covers Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra with NV2 security clearance expectations.

You will implement secure CI/CD pipelines, deploy to GCP, and create hardened machine images with Packer and Ansible, embedding security practices throughout the stack.

• Extensive Terraform production IaC experience.
• Proven experience deploying and operating GCP environments.
• Proficient with Ansible for configuration management.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps and security in deployment pipelines.
• Experience with Packer and hardened machine images.
• Strong understanding of cloud security and automation principles.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Engineer

Location: Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra (5 days onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Security Clearance: NV2 required

Responsibilities

• Design, build and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Develop and maintain production-grade Terraform configurations for repeatable infrastructure deployments.
• Deploy, configure and operate Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• Automate infrastructure configuration and provisioning using tools such as Ansible and Packer.
• Embed security controls, compliance checks and best practices into infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Build and maintain hardened machine images and secure infrastructure environments.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and improve automation, reliability and operational efficiency.

Key Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, including writing and maintaining production IaC.
• Proven experience deploying and operating Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, including integrating security controls into deployment pipelines.
• Experience with Packer and automated, hardened machine images.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, security and automation principles.
